Mud-volcanic deposits of methane gas hydrates in the Black Sea

چکیده
This paper discusses the formation of a special mud-volcanic type gas hydrate accumulation in deep-water part Black Sea. The main conclusions are based on results geological and geophysical studies mud volcanoes carried out course numerous scientific cruises between 1970-2015. Comparison Sea submarine with their on-land analogues indicates possible use compensatory depressions, called “recessed synclines”, accompanying volcanoes, which is revealed prospecting exploration mineral deposits. In sea they represented by ring deposits methane hydrates.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The UNEP Global Outlook on Methane Gas Hydrates seeks to provide policy makers, the general public and the media with a synthesis of aspects of natural, social and applied sciences that relate to this type of natural gas occurrence. With an emphasis on visual media, the Outlook is working to define global methane gas hydrate occurrences in their natural settings and examine th...

cement is an essential ingredient in the concrete buildings. for production of cement considerable amount of fossil fuel and electrical energy is consumed. on the other hand for generating one tone of portland cement, nearly one ton of carbon dioxide is released. it shows that 7 percent of the total released carbon dioxide in the world relates to the cement industry. considering ecological issu...
9. Significance of Anaerobic Methane Oxidation in Methane-rich Sediments Overlying the Blake Ridge Gas Hydrates
A unique set of geochemical pore-water data, characterizing the sulfate reduction and uppermost methanogenic zones, has been collected at the Blake Ridge (offshore southeastern North America) from Ocean Drilling Program (ODP) Leg 164 cores and piston cores. The δ13C values of dissolved CO2 (ΣCO2) are as 13C-depleted as –37.7‰ PDB (Site 995) at the sulfate-methane interface, reflecting a substan...
متن کاملAnaerobic methane oxidation in Black Sea sediments
Anaerobic oxidation of methane (AOM) and sulfate reduction (SRR) were investigated in sediments of the western Black Sea, where methane transport is controlled by diffusion. To understand the regulation and dynamics of methane production and oxidation in the Black Sea, rates of methanogenesis, AOM, and SRR were determined using ra-5 diotracers in combination with pore water chemistry and stable...
